None — Conan O'Brien's rendition of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" to close out his final Tonight Show is drawing the ire of Southern rock fans.
The comedian jammed with Will Ferrell, Ben Harper, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Max Weinberg of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and others on the classic tune.
Lynyrd Skynyrd fans went to the band's Web site to post their anger over the show's rendition of the song, which included Ferrell portraying the band's late lead singer, Ronnie Van Zandt.
"It was nothing but DISGUSTING. My heart was deeply saddened when I saw Will Ferrell up there trying to look like Ronnie. TOTAL DISRESPECT," wrote one poster on lynyrdskynyrd.com.
Another wrote, "This isnt' right, I actually have tears in my eyes on this."
Another post said "Ferrell made a mockery of the memory of a southern rock pioneer." Van Zandt and three other people were killed in a plane crash in 1977.
O'Brien will be replaced March 1 by the man he took over for seven months ago -- Jay Leno.
