Pregnant Woman, Husband Survive Plane Crash

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — A north Georgia couple are among the 130 people who survived a plane crash on an island off the coast of Colombia.

The couple reached out to fellow church members in Flowery Branch just a few hours after the crash.

Carolina Bellino left an emotional phone message on Cynthia Herndon's voicemail.

"Miss Cynthia, this is Carolina Bellino. Can you send some prayers from the church? Our plane crashed at 1:45 p.m. I'm fine, but you know, I'm pregnant so they've got to be careful with me," said Bellino in the message.

"I truly was speechless..beyond words...frozen in my shoes," said Herndon. "Just to hear the panic in her voice and knowing the distress she had just gone through."

Bellino is from Colombia and she and her husband, David, were on the plane getting ready for landing.

Carolina said she after the crash, her husband pulled her to safety. "What I remember is my husband pulling me through the exit door," said Carolina.

Early reports indicate Carolina broke two ribs and David suffered a broken vertebra.

Authorities said the crash happened so quickly the pilot didn't report an emergency to the control tower at Colombia's San Andres Island.

One person died in the crash. Police said the woman died after suffering a heart attack.
