Police Looking For Man Who Stole Drunk Man's Bank Card

DALTON, Ga. — The Dalton Police Department is looking for a man who they say stole a drunken man's wallet and then used his ATM card to steal hundreds of dollars from him.

The victim reported his card missing on Feb. 15.

Investigators say the victim was drunk when he left the Oyster Pub. While at the pub, he asked the business to run his ATM card so he could get money for a cab.

Police say the victim had his wallet when he left the Oyster Pub, but then it was missing when he arrived at his destination.

The cab driver helped the victim look for his wallet and report his card stolen, police said.

The next day, the victim reported to police that someone using his identity withdrew $850 from his bank account, police said.

A week later, the victim contacted Dalton Police to let them know detectives from Hamilton County, Tenn., came to his home investigating a stolen car from their area, police said.

The car was stolen from a woman who the suspect met while using the victim's identity.

Police said the car was later found in St. Petersburg, Fla.

The thief was recorded by surveillance cameras at a store in Rocky Face, Ga. according to police.

The thief is described as a white man, with short, close cropped dark hair.

He wore a dark, hooded, zip-up sweatshirt at the store.

Investigators say he recently got a new tattoo of the Grim Reaper using some of the money stolen from the victim.
