ATLANTA — An NFL source told Channel 2 sports director Zach Klein that Falcons running back Jerious Norwood tore the ACL in his right knee and will be lost for the season.
Norwood, who was injured on the first play of Sunday's game against Arizona, was entering his fifth full season with the Falcons.
Norwood has battled injures over the last 18 months and appeared in 10 games in 2009.
The Falcons signed two running backs on Tuesday. Gartrell Johnson III was added to the active roster, and Shawnbrey McNeal joined the practice squad.
Linebacker Bear Woods was released from the practice squad.
Johnson had 13 carries for 43 yards in 10 games with the New York Giants in 2009.
