HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — An inmate attacked a detention deputy in Florida and attempted to strangle him.
According to WFTS, Hillsborough County detention deputy D.Hernandez was attacked from behind as an inmate tried to strangle him with a towel.
Surveillance video shows the attack. Several inmates jumped in to help the deputy.
Hernandez got a twisted ankle, bruised knee and abrasions to his neck as a result of the attack, according to WFTS.
The inmate is facing a new charge of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and was transferred to an isolation cell.
