PAINESVILLE, Ohio — Common Core is often at the center of controversy. From a father with a degree in engineering defending his son in writing to a model putting in her two cents or people taking 56 seconds to solve 9+6, many have come down on Common Core, arguing that it lacks common sense.
IJ Review picked up on a tweet Friday of another Common Core jab made by a man in Ohio.
This check is written out in “Common Core math” to Melridge Elementary School with the thinking that if the school “wants to cash it, it’s going to have to explain to the bank cashier how it works,” IJ Review wrote.
The father of a second grader posted the photo last week with the words, "Wrote a check to Melridge Elementary using common core numbers. I wonder if they'll take it? #YouFigureItOut."
The night before Doug Hermann posted his frustration that he couldn't help his son do his math homework.
