Metro-area law enforcement jobs fair

Several Metro Atlanta Police and Sheriff's Offices will conduct a joint job fair on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Lakewood Stadium, 70 Claire Drive, Atlanta, Ga. 30315.  DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas Brown will be joined by sheriffs and chiefs from Clayton, Gwinnett, Rockdale, Fulton and Henry counties and the city of Atlanta for a press conference on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 10 a.m.  The press conference will be held in the DeKalb Sheriff's Office Media Room, 4415 Memorial Drive, Decatur, Ga., and will give the law enforcement officials the opportunity to speak on various issues including the number of vacancies within their agency and importance of filling them.

The job fair is from noon to 4 p.m. and will give individuals interested in any area of law enforcement an opportunity to meet with various police and sheriff's agencies. The agencies will display information and provide demonstrations on various units such as their K-9 and special tactical forces squads.  Applications and resumes will be accepted.

The health fair will provide free screenings for blood pressure, glucose levels and other potentially harmful ailments.  The screenings will be conducted by members of the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.

Culminating the day at Lakewood, will be a flag football championship game played by the Metro Atlanta Public Safety Flag Football League.  The league, made up of more than a dozen teams, representing various police, sheriffs and fire departments, plays each year to raise money for the Golden Shield Foundation of Metro Atlanta.  The foundation helps families of law enforcement officers and firemen killed in the line of duty.  Last year the football league donated $8,000 to the organization. Kick off for the championship game begins at 4:15 pm.
