ATLANTA,None — A knock at the door ended in gunfire in southwest Atlanta early Wednesday, Atlanta police said.
The shooting happened at the Villas at Lakewood on Amal Drive in southwest Atlanta.
There was a knock at the door. The gentleman opened the door. Several gunshots were heard. That's when he was hit, Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs told Channel 2s Darryn Moore.
Moore was at the scene as detectives searched for evidence at the front door of the victims apartment. They found several shell casings in the doorway. Police said the victim was shot at least twice.
A couple of gunshot wounds to his stomach, Hobbs said.
Witnesses told officers they saw two men running from the apartment. Police are still trying to determine a connection between them.
Did he know the suspects know him or did he not know them? That's under investigation, Hobbs said.
The victim was being treated at Grady Hospital for critical injuries.
