Man Denied Bond In Teen Killing Charge

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Bond has been denied for a College Park man accused of shooting a teen to death, as he walked to the neighborhood pool.

Darnell Alonzo Fields, 17, was passing through the woods with his 32-year-old aunt, Cande Hope, and a 22-year-old friend to get to a neighborhood swimming pool, when Tyrone Terek Patterson shot at them, Clayton County police said.

Hope was injured, but Fields, a student at North Clayton High School, died at the scene.

Patterson, of College Park, was on the run for two weeks, according to Clayton court records. He appeared in court Monday after being extradited to Georgia from Delaware.

Patterson is in custody at the Clayton County Jail on charges of murder and aggravated assault. Preliminary hearings are set for Aug. 31 and Sept. 3., according to online court records.
