VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A WWII veteran and the love he lost more than 70 years ago have reconnected.
In 1944, Normond Thomas met Joyce Durrant in London, and they both fell head over heels in love, but unfortunately, love wasn’t enough while a war was going on.
Thomas returned to the United States without Durrant, but could never forget the time they spent together and what life they could have had together.
After years of marriages and life moving on, it was as if destiny came calling, except it came in the form of an email. It turns out Durrant had been looking for Thomas all this time.
Thomas' son and Durrant's son set up a Skype call and magic happened.
“The one big problem is that I can’t take you in my arms and give you a squeeze,” Tomas told Durrant on the Skype call.
The two plan on keeping in touch in the years to come.
