Woman gunned down in NE Atlanta street

ATLANTA,None — A woman was shot and left for dead in the middle of a northeast Atlanta street Wednesday.

Atlanta police blocked off parts of Angier Avenue near Boulevard as they investigated. The shooting happened shortly after midnight.

Homicide detectives said they found a 37-year-old woman in the street shot once in the chest. She was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where she died. The shooter is still on the loose.

Police said the victim and the shooter were arguing before shots rang out.

"It appears the victim and shooter know each other and were involved in some type of verbal altercation," Atlanta police Lt. Paul Guerrucci told Channel 2's Darryn Moore.

Witnesses said the shooter was sitting in a white SUV. Police said the victim confronted the man about talking to a young girl late at night and an argument ensued.

"That was probably why they argued, based on some past they had together," Guerrucci said.

He said the man pulled a gun, shot the woman and drove off. Police said they have a pretty good idea of who they're looking for based on information and evidence gathered by detectives.
