ATLANTA — It’s the time of the year when families prepare for Thanksgiving - and then prepare their holiday shopping.

The recent trend has malls opening earlier and earlier on Thanksgiving but the opposite is now happening for some: Malls are staying closed so that employees can spend the holiday with their families.

Arbor Place mall will be closed on Thanksgiving so that their employees can celebrate the holiday.

"So enjoy that extra plate of pie at dinner, take a long afternoon nap, set your alarm and wake up with us to bring back the magic of Black Friday," Arbor Place said.

The mall will reopen on Black Friday.
