ATLANTA — The Mega Millions jackpot keeps rising and rising -- and tonight’s jackpot is a jaw-dropping $1 billion.

The odds are stacked against you but someone will eventually win the jackpot. So that begs the question: What can you buy with one billion dollars? The answer is nearly anything you want... including an Atlanta landmark.

You can watch EVERY Powerball and Mega Millions drawing LIVE right before WSB Tonight at 11 p.m. on Channel 2! Mega Millions drawings are on Tuesday and Friday. Powerball drawings are on Wednesday and Saturday.

We’ve put together a list of just some of the luxurious things you can buy with the fortune... and still have money left over!

A Private Island

The first thing most people would want to do when winning the lottery is to get away. Well, you could get away to your own private island. And you would have quite the selection with hundreds of millions of dollars.

One island listed for sale is Hummingbird Cay in the Caribbean. It’s listed for $35 million and it is 257 acres. It features a 1,700 square foot main house with 3 guest houses. And of course, your own private beach.

The World’s Most Expensive Car

Why would you settle for just an ordinary luxury car, when you could opt for the best of the best. In 2019, Bugatti unveiled what it says is the most expensive car of all time. The “La Voiture Noire” is priced at $12.5 million. At that price you can buy dozens of them and a private driver.

A Fairytale Castle

Winning the lottery jackpot may sound like a fairytale, but if you do, you could literally live out your dreams in a fairytale castle.

This 15th century castle with modern upgrades is for sale in Brittany, France. The estate sits on nearly 100 acres and is 25,000 square feet. It could all be yours for a cool $38.1 million.

Private Planes

Once you’ve purchased your island or castle of your choice, how are you going to get there? In your private plane, of course.

You can buy an Airbus A380 for just $500 million. You can fit you and your 800 closest friends and family inside the massive jet. If it’s good enough for a Saudi prince, it should be good enough for you.

Super Yacht

If flying isn’t your thing, you can sail away to your private island in the world’s most expensive super yacht. The Flying Fox is basically your own personal cruise ship with 11 cabins each with their own private sea terrace and you can be waited on hand and foot by the 54 crew members.

You can sail the world on this ship for just $4.2 million a week.

Trip to Outer Space

With your new winnings, you have the option to just get away from it all -- way away. You could be one of the very few in history to go into outer space with private space travel.

SpaceX announced that it wants to begin sending tourists into space in the near future, but the tickets aren’t going to be cheap. Although we don’t know exactly how much they’ll be, we’re pretty confident that the winner of the Mega Millions jackpot will be able to afford it.

Jewelry

If bling bling is more of your thing, you can certainly be iced out this winter.

Although it is currently not for sale, you could buy the world’s most well-known diamond: The Hope Diamond. It’s valued at an affordable $250 million.

Instead, you can buy this breathtaking peacock brooch worth a staggering $100 million. The Graff Diamonds creation features a total of 120 carats and over 1,300 stones in white, yellow, blue, and orange diamonds. A very rare, dark blue pear-shaped diamond sits at the center, and alone totals 20 carats.

CNN Center

Although you may have missed your chance to buy the iconic CNN Center in Atlanta, you could have easily afforded it, since it was valued at $215 million.

The CNN Center has been an Atlanta fixture for decades near Centennial Park. The building means a lot to Georgians and if you would have won the jackpot last year, you could’ve helped leave your legacy with the city.

Just Cash

If you wanted to cash out your winnings in cold hard cash - you’ll need somewhere very large to store it.

If you had nearly $1 billion dollars in $100 bills, it would be nearly 10,000 feet tall. That’s almost 10 Eiffel Towers stacked on top of each other. Sacre bleu!

And an honorable mention, just short of $10 million, is purchasing the Miami Marlins, which is valued at $980 million, according to Forbes.
