GBI: Woman shot, killed after pointing gun at deputies

WALTON COUNTY, Ga. — Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation were called to assist an officer-involved shooting in Walton County.

Sheriff Joe Chapman said deputies were called to a home on Rosebud Road near Escoe Drive south of Loganville Thursday morning.

Authorities said a woman in her 80s and her son were being threatened by her adult daughter.

“Immediately upon arrival, they encountered the daughter with two guns in her hand,” GBI spokesperson Nelly Miles said.

Deputies ordered the woman to drop her weapons, but she refused and pointed a gun at them.

“She pointed one of the guns at the deputies. They fired at her, striking her with multiple rounds. At that time, she died as a result of her injuries,” Miles said.

Investigators said no deputies were injured.
