ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. — A Waffle House in Rockdale County failed its latest health inspection.
Channel 2's Carol Sbarge investigated details about the more than a dozen violations.
One problem the inspector found at the Waffle House on Highway 138 was that the sanitizer they were using was too weak.
The restaurant was told to fix that on the spot.
Waffle House says it is addressing all the violations.
This Conyers restaurant dropped dramatically in its health inspection score from a 98 in March to a failing 66 in November.
“(It) kind of makes me not want to eat there,” Dwayne Rice said.
Violations include Coke nozzles found with black substance, clean dishes found in a drawer with food debris, food in a reach-in cooler above the required 41 degrees Fahrenheit or below, and an employee with long fingernails was observed.
Channel 2 Action News went to the Rockdale County restaurant to find out why its score dropped so much in just 8 months. No one at the Waffle House was allowed to speak on camera but in a statement a company spokesperson said:
"The restaurant had associates not following our protocols and equipment that was not working properly. Our senior management has put in place additional training for our associates to coach them on the proper procedures and the equipment is being replaced.”
Waffle House says they apologize to their customers and are working hard to ensure the restaurant is up to their standards.
That is something customers say is important.
