ATLANTA — Two children are dead after a crash involving a car driving more than 100mph, according to police.
The crash was reported around 11 p.m. Sunday on Moreland Avenue and Constitution Road.
Police said a mother with three young children in the car tried to turn off Moreland Avenue onto Constitution. Police believe that’s when two speeding cars crashed into her.
The children, ages 6, 4 and 3, were ejected from the car, thrown over a guardrail and landed at the bottom of an embankment. All three were taken to different hospitals, including Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.
The 3 and 4-year-old children were killed. The woman and her 6-year-old are in stable condition.
Police charged the drivers of the two cars, Melanie Putnam and James Denford, with first-degree vehicular homicide and reckless driving. They were not seriously injured.
