Firefighters put out early morning fire at Taco Bell

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Firefighters have put out a fire at a Taco Bell in South Fulton County.

The fire started around 4:30 a.m. at the fast food restaurant on Camp Creek Parkway.

Heavy smoke blanketed the busy area right next to 285.

Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach could see smoke billowing from the roof, out of the dining room and even the drive through windows.

East Point firefighters attacked the fire inside the restaurant, going in and out the back door that leads to the kitchen.

Gehlbach spoke to a former Taco Bell worker who said the fire likely started there, and just after the last employees would have locked up and left for the night.

“They close up about three, probably about 4-4:30. They’re out of there,”said Cheniqua Johnson.

The general manager and other workers arrived at the scene around 6 a.m.

The former employee said they’ve had smoke in there before, but nothing like this.
