One moment at the 88th Annual Academy Awards drew a lot of uncomfortable laughter and some blank stares.
"Clueless" actress Stacey Dash appeared on stage for a joke with host Chris Rock regarding the lack of diversity among Oscar nominees.

Earlier this year, Dash weighed in on the #OscarsSoWhite boycott, stating on Fox News that she thought the boycott was "ludicrous." In the same interview, she also stated that she doesn't believe there should be a Black History Month.
On Sunday, Chris Rock introduced Dash as the Academy's "new director of (the) minority outreach program."
Dash walked on stage to the sound of halfhearted applause and some laughter.

"I cannot wait to help my people out," said Dash while on stage. "Happy Black History Month!"
An uncomfortable silence blanketed the auditorium afterwards, followed by more lukewarm applause.

Dash later followed up on her Oscars moment in a blog post on the Patheos blog.
“We need to stop complaining about white people oppressing us,” Dash wrote. “We shouldn’t boycott the Oscars, and we need to support Chris Rock the host.”
Dash, who is multiracial, continued, “When they added ME to increase the diversity, I’m sure many black people rolled their eyes. I’m not ‘black enough,’ they say. But guess what? I’ve heard that all my life. I would rather be a free thinking, black than a cookie cutter black who thinks – and votes – just like all my friends.”
