SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Some residents in South Fulton County have mixed reactions to the apparent end of TomorrowWorld.
The massive outdoor electronic dance festival will not return to Chattahoochee Hills this year.
The event was held on farmland in the northeast corner of the city. Over the last three years for a handful of days in September, 160,000 people from all over the globe flooded in.
Locals say the event had its pros and cons.
"It wasn't a bad thing. Honestly, it was the traffic. The congestion. It was murder,” Gerald Mitchell said.
The 2015 event was all but rained out. By the third and final day, bad weather made it impossible for thousands of festival goers to get to the venue. The promoter had to offer refunds.
"I'm not sorry. I'm not sad. I really don't have any reaction,” local resident Marty Ballentine said.
The TomorrowWorld website now features a short video. The company based in Europe has filed for bankruptcy. But festival organizers insist this is not farewell.
"I can't say anything negative about the guys and the concert. It was the congestion. When you live five minutes from here and it takes an hour to get back home, it's ridiculous,” Gerald Mitchell said.
TomorrowWorld got its start 10 years ago in Belgium.
