Shelters for Metro Atlanta

METRO ATLANTA — ATLANTA

The City of Atlanta announced today that additional shelters are being opened to accommodate residents who are affected by the winter storm.

List of emergency shelters and warming centers:

Old Adamsville Recreation Center at 3304 Delmar Lane, SW, was opened February 10th, until further notice.

Additional Recreation Centers:

Rosel Fann Recreation Center at 365 Cleveland Avenue SE, will be open on Tuesday, February 11th until further notice.

Adamsville Recreation Center at 3201 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. SW, will be open on Tuesday, February 11th until further notice.

Peachtree Hills Recreation Center at 308 Peachtree Hills Ave., will be open on Tuesday, February 11th until further notice.

Central Recreation Center at 400 Merrits Ave., will be open on Tuesday, February 11th until further notice. This site will be open for residents with pets. Pet owners must bring their own pet supplies.

Ben Hill Recreation Center at 2405 Fairburn Rd SW, will be open on Tuesday, February 11th until further notice. This site is recommended for seniors.

The Atlanta Dream Center, 635 Angier Ave, NE, Atlanta, GA 30308. Food, cots and shower facilities will be provided. Shelter will be provided for the duration of winter storm.

North Atlanta High School, 411 Northside Drive NW, Atlanta GA, 30305. This site will be open for residents with pets. Pet owners must bring their own pet supplies.

BEST Academy, 1890 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. This site will be open for residents with pets. Pet owners must bring their own pet supplies.

BROOKHAVEN:

The City of Brookhaven has established three emergency warming shelters for stranded motorists and residents without power.

Emergency warming shelters are located at the following facilities:

Brookhaven Police Department, 2665 Buford Highway, Brookhaven, GA

DeKalb Fire Station #2, 1316 Dresden Drive NE, Brookhaven, GA

Cowart Family/ Ashford Dunwoody YMCA, 3692 Ashford Dunwoody Road

CLAYTON COUNTY:

Due to the massive power outage in the north Clayton, College Park and Riverdale areas, government officials have made available the G.W. Northcutt Elementary School 5451 West Fayetteville Road College Park, Georgia 30349.

A collaboration between Superintendant Luvenia Jackson, Commisioner Gail Hambrick ( District 2), Commission Chairman Jeffery Turner, Chief Landry Merkerson (EMA/ CCFES), Chief Gregory Porter (CCPD), Sheriff Victor Hill (CCSO), Director Mrs. Audrey Hamilton (Dept. Of Nutritional Services CCPS), and Chief Clarence Cox, (CCPSPD) made this possible for the citizens who are effected by this devastating event.

JOHNS CREEK WEATHER UPDATE:

As of 12:30 p.m., Johns Creek has had no power outages reported by Georgia Power nor Sawnee EMC. If your home is affected by a power outage and you are a Georgia Power customer, you can report it or monitor it by visiting http://outagemap.georgiapower.com. If you are a Sawnee EMC customer and you experience a power outage, call 770-887-2363, or visit www.sawnee.com/storm.
