ATLANTA — Dozens of people are without a home in Fayette County after a storm took down trees and toppled mobile homes at the Whistling Pines Mobile Home Park in Tyrone in Fayette County.
"You come home and everything is gone," said Amber Spratlin, whose mobile home was hit with a tree.
"We have about 25 plus mobile homes that have been affected. Major damage to some, minor to other. The power is completely off in this part," said Tom Bartlett, with Fayette County Fire and EMS.
Stacy Johnson said she was inside her mobile home with her 5-year-old when three trees fell down.
"A lot of stuff is lost but we are alive. I am so glad my daughter is alive. It scared me because I really thought we were going to die," Johnson told Channel 2's Rachel Stockman.
About 60 people were displaced Wednesday night. The National Weather Service used tools to survey the damage.
"The magnitude of the winds, very intense, could have been anywhere from 80 to 90 miles an hour," said Dave Nadler, with the National Weather Service.
Residents are thankful everyone survived.
"God was here with us, through this all," Johnson said.
On Wednesday night crews remained at the site working to fix power and remove debris. The Red Cross helped the residents who were displaced.
