Police say drive-by shooting leaves man dead

ATLANTA — Police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in the street early Thursday morning in southeast Atlanta.

Investigators say they believe the victim was the intended target.

Police received a shots fired call around midnight and found a man in his 40s in the road on Macedonia Road near Renault Road.

Atlanta investigators say the shooting came from a pickup truck.

"It possibly may be a white truck involved in the incident with at least one male occupant," said Atlanta Police Lt. Charles Hampton.

A source close to the investigation told Channel 2's Darryn Moore a woman witnessed the shooting and heard the gunman ask the victim "what kind of shirt do you have on?" before shooting him.

Police say after shooting the man, the female witness also came under fire but was not hit.

Authorities are asking if anyone knows anything about the shooting to call CrimeStoppers at 404-577-8477.
