DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — DeKalb County police are searching for the person who shot and killed a man inside of a Jaguar.
The shooting happened just before 5 a.m. Sunday at the Vineyard of Flat Shoals Apartments off Flat Shoals Road.
Channel 2’s Sophia Choi said homicide detectives are at the complex, where police found Demarco Booker dead from several gunshot wounds inside a car with the brake lights on. Booker was shot multiple times in his face, police said.
Family and friends of Booker gathered outside of his residence at the Highlands at East Atlanta Apartments, a short distance from the complex where he was killed.
"We just want justice. Somebody say something. Somebody (knows) something, so we just hope somebody comes forward," Booker's friend Lashaun Eberhart said.
Earlier Sunday, a Channel 2 crew saw loved ones huddled outside of the crime scene, where detectives gathered evidence near the older model Jaguar. One witness saw a man jump out of Booker's car, then go around to the driver's side to argue with Booker before shooting him several times. Police said other witnesses have come forward with what they saw.
“A witness told us that a passenger was in the vehicle, shot the subject and fled on foot,” said DeKalb County Police Lt. Dane Cunningham.
Police said they don’t have a name or a description on the person who took off on foot.
