Head-on crash shuts down Forsyth County highway

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies have reopened Highway 20 in Forsyth County after a head-on Collison.

Channel 2 Action News was there as emergency crews pulled a Comcast Xfinity van out of a ditch after it crashed head-on with a box truck Tuesday evening.

The wreck shut the road down for more than two hours.

NewsChopper 2 flew overhead as emergency crews removed the driver who was trapped inside the mangled truck and placed him in an ambulance.

Deputies said the man had non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the box truck was also injured, but deputies said he will be OK as well.

"As of right now, we're in the preliminary stages of the investigation. We can tell that it was a head-on collision, but as far as what caused the accident, it's still under investigation," said Deputy Epifino Rodriguez with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

"It's awful. I feel for their families, I pray for them," said witness Shelley Chaffin.

There is no word on if anyone will be charged in the wreck.
