PICKENS COUNTY, Ga. — The Pickens County School District announced Thursday night that they are closing an elementary school temporarily due to COVID-19.

Officials said Tate Elementary School will be closed until Nov. 5 because of a significant number of staff and students in quarantine or isolation as a result of positive cases or direct contacts with people who are infected.

All other schools in the district will remain open and operating as usual.

The district did not release the exact number of positive cases or the number of students and staff members in quarantine.
