GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Parkview High School student who was struck by a car last week has died.
Gwinnett County police said 16-year-old Jonathan Porter died over the weekend.
Porter was hit by a passing car early Tuesday morning as he walked to school. Gwinnett police said the driver of the car will not be charged, since the teenager walked out into traffic.
Police said Porter was apparently trying to cross Five Forks Trickum Road, about a half mile from the school.
The Gwinnett County School District said it will have extra counselors on hand on Monday for students and teachers.
