PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — Parents of two teenagers killed in a crash are reacting to charges that were filed more than a year after the fatal crash occurred. A memorial still stands where the high school couple lost their lives along Highway 61 in Paulding County in June 2015.
"This is where their spirits were left. This is where I come for some type of solace," William Wright said.
Wright's son Nicholas and Janeal Priester were killed in a crash with Sarah Dowdy.
"We have been waiting patiently for justice and answers," Keith Priester, father of Janeal, said.
The fathers learned Dowdy is accused of slamming into Janeal's car, and that she will face charges including two counts of homicide by vehicle, speeding and reckless driving.
"We're standing wondering why it has been so long. Thirteen months, 14 months, and she's still not behind bars, only charges," Priester said.

The Georgia State Patrol investigator working on this case says Dowdy was not arrested sooner because the investigation had not run its course.
The investigator says the process was slowed after Dowdy moved to Pennsylvania, got a lawyer and declined to give an interview or a statement.
"I'm hoping for the whole development for all parties involved to answer for the chaotic driving and reckless driving," Priester said.
Witnesses say the suspect was possibly racing or chasing another driver when the deadly crash happened. %

"It's been an emotional journey. You have to gather all your strength and comfort from the lord and lean on each other," Wright said.
