ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Alpharetta police have charged a hotel worker they say stole a guest’s heirloom. Now, police are warning others to protect their valuables when they stay in a hotel.
The couple was visiting family late last month at the Hyatt Place Hotel on North Point Parkway when a ring disappeared from their hotel room.
“The hotel isn’t denying it,” said Sgt. Howard Miller with the Alpharetta Police Department. “The ring stolen from the room was a 40th anniversary ring. During the investigation we determined there were two hotel employees who had access to the couple’s room during their stay."

Miller told Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik when Kristshonda Brooks realized the heat was on, she came clean about another theft.
“After this couple made the report and before our investigators were able to identify her and secure an arrest warrant for her, she had admitted to stealing money from another couple in a separate case,” Miller said.
Miller said the hotel fired Brooks on the spot.
In a statement, Hyatt said: "The safety and security of our guests is at our upmost priority at all times. The hotel is assisting local authorities as appropriate."
“There definitely could be other cases if she’s worked in other hotels and done this to other people. Hopefully, we’ve stopped her. We’ve identified her and hopefully we’ll get this couple’s ring back,” Miller said.
