ATLANTA — A mother visiting from Savannah and her daughter say they were ambushed and robbed at gunpoint on Pearl Street Sunday morning.
Vanessa Vonland and her mother were enjoying a weekend together while her mother was visiting from Savannah.
On the last day of Vonland's mother's visit, two armed men took everything they had on them.
They were unloading their cat at 2 a.m. after coming home from a birthday party.
The robbery took place on Pearl Street in the Cabbagetown neighborhood of southeast Atlanta.
"I looked over to my neighbors to see if anyone was watching and could help, I thought about screaming, but I thought they would shoot me so I got on the ground and I cooperated," Vonland said.
Vonland's mother did not want to be identified, but says she is outraged over what she was put through.
"They not only did that to me, but they did that to my daughter," Vonland's mother said.
The gunmen then took off on Pearl Street and tried using the victims' credit cards a couple hours after the robbery.
"Where do these people get off thinking that they can do this to you?" Vonland's mother said.
The victims say both gunmen were five foot, eight inches tall.
