Mother accused of stabbing 6-year-old in face

ATLANTA — Atlanta police say a 6-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after he was stabbed in the face Wednesday morning.

The incident was reported around 9:30 a.m. on the 3500 block of Villa Circle Southeast.

Channel 2's Richard Elliot learned the child was sent to Heritage Academy with wounds to his face where teachers called 911.

The child was taken to Hugh Spalding Hospital.

Police say they consider Markie Moon the prime suspect.

Moon allegedly told police she poked the boy while she was disciplining him.

Moon was arrested by Atlanta police, and is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and cruelty to children.
