SMYRNA, Ga. — A woman and her two children were struck crossing a busy four-lane road in Cobb County on Monday morning.
The crash happened on Concord Road in Smyrna. Around 8 a.m., the road was shut down in both directions for the crash investigation.
Police said the woman was pushing a stroller when she and her children were struck. The driver stopped and waited for police arrive, Smyrna Police Officer Mike Smith said.
"It surely doesn't look like speed or DUI or anything like that was a factor," Smith said.
The children were taken to Childrens Healthcare of Atlanta at Eggleston for non-life-threatening injuries. Smith said they should be released Tuesday. Their mother was treated for a broken ankle.
Smyrna police are investigating, but so far, the driver has not been charged.
Neighbors said it's a dangerous road for pedestrians. There are no sidewalks on the south side of the road and the nearest crosswalk is at least a quarter of a mile away from the crash scene.
"There's no crossings for anyone, so you've got to take your life into your own hands when you cross on Concord Road," Angela Reed said.
