Man threatens to infect people with COVID-19 during attempted bank robbery, deputies say

Victor Crawley (Clayton County Sheriff Office)

RIVERDALE, Ga. — A man is accused of trying to rob a Clayton County bank, armed only with a possible diagnosis of the coronavirus.

Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said Victor Hardley Crawley on Nov. 28 walked into the Chase branch at 7185 Highway 85 in Riverdale and passed a note to the teller demanding cash.

Crawley told the teller that recently he tested positive for the coronavirus. He then threatened to infect everyone at the branch if his demands weren’t met, according to deputies.

Bank employees were able to reach police and Crawley left the location empty handed.
