ATLANTA — A carjacking victim says three men used a stun gun on him as he was getting things out of his car near his apartment.
David Nathan says he heard footsteps behind him and the next thing he knew, he felt a sharp pain.
“It’s one of those things when you don’t really know what’s happening,” said Nathan.
Nathan says he was on the ground near Rankin Street and Glen Iris Drive in northeast Atlanta
near to the Camden Fourth Ward apartments.
“They were asking for the keys, yelling keys, keys!” said Nathan.
He says he handed his keys to the men now identified as Marquavious Green, Brentton Ellis and Damaine Bob Jr.
He says they jumped in his 2011 white BMW, but then asked something police may classify as a case of dumb criminals.
“The door opens, and I’m like oh here we go, and the driver yells out how do you start the car?” said Nathan.
The stolen BMW was discovered in the Kroger parking lot off Moreland Avenue.
When police surrounded the car, they say some of the men were wearing latex gloves and they found a Taser in the car.
“I assume they felt by having gloves on, they wouldn’t leave any fingerprints behind and that’s so if we recovered the vehicle later we wouldn’t be able to dust for fingerprints and find them,” said Sgt. Greg Lyon with the Atlanta Police Department.
Nathan told us he should’ve followed his instincts when he was parking his car.
“It really makes sense to follow your instincts because when I drove past these two guys, something did go off and I just immediately dismissed it,” said Nathan.
Nathan said officers were on the scene within 2 minutes of his 911 call. They say they were able to track down the BMW less than an hour and half later just blocks away from the carjacking scene.
