Like being outside and riding ATVs? The Georgia DNR has the job for you!

FORSYTH, Ga. — Do you like being outside, riding ATVs and being on the water? The Georgia Department of Resources has the perfect job for you!

The DNR is taking applications for the next Game Warden Academy Class through the end of April.

Game Wardens work for the DNR law enforcement division to protect Georgia’s natural resources and provide a public safety presence. They conduct patrols on boats, ATVs, on foot and via air, teach classes to hunters and boaters and give presentations to groups about hunting, fishing, boating and environmental laws.

Game Wardens are certified Peace Officers certified by the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council and employed to enforce wildlife, environmental, boating and other state and federal laws, rules and regulations.

Applicants must be 21 years old, have an associate’s degree or 60 hours from an accredited college or university or four years of active-duty military service with an honorable discharge.

All applicants are subject to a rigorous application process that includes a background check, a physical agility test, an oral interview, a medical evaluation, a drug screening and a psychological evaluation. Potential Game Wardens are also held to a high standard when it comes to illegal drugs.

After Game Warden trainees complete the academy, they spend four to six months in a probationary field training program.
