Kids, one as young as 10, accused of throwing rocks onto cars

Police have three kids in custody, one as young as 10, accused of throwing rocks onto cars traveling on Interstate-285.

Channel 2’s Liz Artz spoke to one of the victims who said someone was watching over her when the rock came crashing down.

Candy Kennedy was traveling southbound on I-285 in south Fulton County, just past the Washington Road exit when the rock pounded her car.

"Something went 'pow' right into the windshield,” Kennedy said.

Eight cars in all, including a MARTA bus was damaged allegedly  at the hands of children.

Police say they chased the kids through a wooded area and finally caught them in an apartment nearby. The suspects are as young as 10-years-old, too young to be charged criminally. Police say they will go before a juvenile judge where they could be forced to pay for the damage they  caused.

"10-years-old and your life is ruined cause you threw a rock off a bridge,” Kennedy said. “Lesson learned now because next time might not be so lucky."

Investigators said they recommended eight counts of criminal damage to property, but it will ultimately be up to a juvenile judge.
