COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Kennesaw police are warning residents about a scheme that uses the police department’s phone number.
According to police, people have reported receiving phone calls from the Kennesaw Police Department’s 770-422-2505 number.
The unknown caller claims to be with the Treasury Department and says the call recipient owes money.
Police said the calls are not coming from the police department or the city of Kennesaw.
According to police, the caller has spoofed the police department’s number, which allows the caller to use it for caller ID.
Police said any suspicious phone calls should be reported.
