HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — The latest mass shooting, which happened in Nashville, has the country in shock, and it has prompted local law enforcement to train people to help avoid something such as this.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office held an active threat and security seminar, just days following a school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee.
Six people including three children died in the shooting.

Channel 2′s Audrey Washington was at the seminar Wednesday evening during Channel 2 Action News at 6 p.m.
“Make sure you’re aware and that you have a plan and that you can act accordingly,” said Chief Deputy Michael Yarbrough with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Yarbrough said the goal of the seminar at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church is to provide people with the skills needed to hopefully survive an emergency situation.
“Getting yourself and others, if possible, away from the threat,” said Yarbrough.
In August 2022, several law enforcement agencies, including the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, responded and helped evacuate hundreds of people from a McDonough facility after someone opened fire.
Three people were shot.
“You got people crying and screaming,” said employee Dicey Beckham.

Sheriff deputies said when in an active shooter situation, it’s important for people to avoid, deny and defend.
“If I’m caught here, can I deny their entry and if I can’t, can I defend myself,” Yarbrough said.
