Gainesville man accused of firing at man in drive-by shooting turns himself in

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A man suspected of a drive-by shooting was arrested in Hall County recently.

On Friday, July 7, the victim, a 20-year-old Gainesville man, was on his way to visit someone he knew.

When the victim turned onto Oak Grove Road from Athens Highway, the driver of an oncoming pickup truck fired at least three gunshots from a handgun at the victim, striking his vehicle.

The victim was able to drive away and call police from a safe location.

He was not injured in the shooting.

Antonio Flores Estrada, 33, turned himself in on Friday, July 21, to face charges of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and three counts of discharge of a firearm near a public highway.

Investigators obtained arrest warrants for Flores Estrada on July 13.

They do not believe the shooting was a random crime.

Flores Estrada is being held without bond in the Hall County Jail.
