Man arrested after hours-long standoff ends in Gwinnett County neighborhood

LOGANVILLE, Ga. — A man was arrested Wednesday after a standoff lasting several hours ended in an unincorporated Loganville neighborhood.

Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson saw a man being placed in handcuffs just before noon after exiting a home.

Loganville police said this morning an officer received an alert on his tag reader about a stolen vehicle out of Loganville.

The driver of a stolen U-Haul truck, Noble R. Washington, 46, of Loganville, drove to a home on Compton Woods Drive.

Gwinnett police responded to the home when Washington barricaded himself inside with two women and refused to exit.

The Gwinnett Police SWAT unit responded to the scene.

Warrants were obtained for Washington and police entered the home and arrested him.

No shots were fired during the standoff.

The entire neighborhood was on lockdown for at least four hours.

The women were able to make it out of the home safely.

Police said Washington was taken to a hospital after he complained of chest pain.

Charges for Washington include felony theft by conversion in Walton County and multiple felony warrants in Henry County.
