GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A metro sheriff’s office is looking for victims of an alleged fake dentist working out of his suburban home.
His rates were apparently cheap, but investigators believe patients were left disfigured.
The suspect’s wife told Channel 2′s Tony Thomas that it was all a misunderstanding, but investigators believe there are more victims out there, and they want to hear from them.
Neighbors of Gerardo Lossada Sandoval say they never noticed anything unusual at this suburban house, but police say in a room downstairs next to the garage Lossada ran his own dental practice without any licensing and little obvious training.
“They think they are getting a good deal, and they are not,” one neighbor said, asking not to be identified.
A woman identifying herself as Lossada Sandoval’s wife wouldn’t give details when she answered the door.
“I can’t say anything without the approval of our attorney,” she told Thomas.

Investigators say an Alpharetta woman went there on the recommendations of a family friend. She paid more than $400 for braces but is now disfigured and is going to a specialist for repairs.
When deputies went through the family’s trash on the curb, they say they found discarded surgical gloves and other dentistry items.
The victim told investigators that Lossada Sandoval regularly worked on patients in the house, applying sealants and doing cleanings.
“I’m shocked that it’s in this neighborhood. I am. Because it’s just a normal neighborhood. People just live their lives here quietly,” the neighbor said.
The victim told investigators she believed Lossada Sandoval had training as a dental assistant in his home country of Venezuela, but was never trained as an actual dentist.
