EMERSON, Ga. — A local officer is getting special honors for helping save a teenager.
In Bartow County, Emerson Police Officer Lee Bauder found the girl on top of the railing of a tall overpass.
He thought she might hurt herself or fall, and acted quickly.
“I put my hand on her shoulder and she still didn’t answer me, and I said, 'I better get her off the bridge quick.' So I put my arms around her, snatched her off the bridge and that’s when she broke down and she hugged me and I hugged her,” Bauder said.
The Emerson officer said he didn’t want recognition, just for people to know: most officers love to help.
