Funeral arrangements announced for 2 Fulton deputies killed in I-20 accident

Funeral arrangements have been announced for the two Fulton County Sheriff’s Office deputies who were killed in a crash on I-20.

Kenny Ingram and Anthony White were traveling to pick up an inmate when their patrol car crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer on I-20 near Augusta on Tuesday. Both deputies did not survive.

Ingram worked for the department for 15 years and White’s eighth work anniversary would have been in December.

A visitation for Ingram will be held Sunday from noon until 7 p.m. at Donald Trimble Mortuary in Decatur. A celebration of life service will be Monday at Noon at Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church.

White’s family will hold a private visitation at the Murray Brothers Funeral Home in Atlanta, according to his obituary. A celebration of life service will also be held at the Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church on Wednesday.

Capt. Damien Butler with the sheriff’s office has set up a fundraiser to help the Ingram and White families.

Channel 2′s Tom Jones and Channel 2′s Mark Winne spoke with the deputies' co-workers last week about the impact the two men had.

Lt. Vivian Dixon Bradford supervised Ingram and White and said both deputies were excellent employees. She said Ingram loved talking about his twin daughters. White was a comedian and had been cracking jokes before they left.

Their co-workers said Ingram and White really did go above and beyond their work. Sgt. LaPrincess Jenkins and Lt. Col. Shawn Jones said to Ingram and White their job was more than a job.

“We worked as a team. We drew strength from each other,” Jenkins said.

“Deputy White, dealing with the issues with the juveniles, he always knew how to calm those juveniles down,” Jones said.

“He built a rapport with them that nobody else could build,” Jenkins said.

Butler remembers the excitement Ingram, who had served in the military, expressed about his job, especially when he learned he’d be the driver of an MRAP for the sheriff’s SWAT team.

“He just lit up. He was like 'cap I got you,” he said.
