ATLANTA — A vacant building in downtown Atlanta that was once home to Club Inferno was damaged in a fire early Wednesday morning.
Fire was already coming through the roof when firefighters arrived at the one-story building on Marietta Street just before 5 a.m.
"These buildings are hard to contain once they get going because there are so many additions and add-ons over the years and there are so many void spaces in there, and that's what makes them so difficult," Atlanta fire Battalion Chief Paul Cuprowski said.
The two-alarm fire was contained to the original building, which borders the Georgia Aquarium's property.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, but Cuprowski said the property manager mentioned that work was being done to the building on Tuesday.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
