2 Female students attacked on Georgia Tech campus

ATLANTA,None — Police are looking for two men in a pair of unrelated attacks of female students on the Georgia Tech campus.

The first assault happened near the intersection of Fourth and Fowler streets on Saturday, police said.

The attacker approached the woman from behind and pushed her up against a wall outside the Wesley Foundation, police said. The victim told police the man managed to unbutton her pants but ran away when she started screaming.

Police said the man ran toward Tech Square. He’s described as a black male, 5 foot 8 inches tall and wearing a white baseball cap.

A second attack on Saturday night involved a man who approached a woman from behind and grabbed her thighs in a bear hug, police said. The woman screamed and pulled away from the man who ran from the area outside Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons toward the Student Center Commons.

The second man is described as approximately 5 foot 6 inches tall, with brown hair. He was wearing a brown camouflage jacket, brown athletic shorts and tennis shoes. The victim told police the attacker ran with an awkward gait.

Students told Channel 2's Ryan Young talked to students who said they noticed an increased presence of Georgia Tech police with the rash of crimes near campus over the past two years.

"Even though I'm in the city it feels like I'm in a bubble and safe," said Kristen Heady. "It's gotten so much better. I see a cop on every corner when I'm walking around and they are really friendly."

Some students were still concerned with no arrests in the assaults.

"Words don't describe how scary it is. We don't know who it is. The guy's not caught and (that) he would do that to a girl on campus ... that's wrong," said Haley Hunt.

Anyone with information in either attack is urged to call Georgia Tech police at 404-894-2500.
