Channel 2′s Tom Jones was in the City of South Fulton, where Ryan Hines, 46, was well-known for riding his fancy Slingshot.

His family said he was turning into his subdivision when he was involved in a wreck that caused the Slingshot to burst into flames.

“Someone called me and said, ‘Big boy car on fire. Old National. Get up there,” Hines’ wife of 24 years, Yolanda Guthrie, said.

Police said a silver sedan collided with Hines’ three-wheeled motorcycle, which then burst into flames. Police are looking into whether alcohol played a role.

Guthrie said her husband was turning into their subdivision when he was killed.

“It was like sudden impact,” Guthrie said. “That close to home.”

Guthrie said the Slingshot was one of her husband’s biggest passions.

“He’s known for riding his Slingshot. That was his love,” she said.

Hines also loved building and racing his gas-powered remote cars.

Hines’ stepson, Terence Guthrie, said Hines never liked being called “stepdad.”

“I would say ‘my stepdad,’ and he would say, ‘Why can’t I be your dad, man?’ He always say that. He my dad. That’s my dad,” Terence Guthrie said.

The other two victims in the crash haven’t been identified. Police say the crash is still under investigation and toxicology reports will reveal a lot about what happened.
