CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Parents, students and teachers will notice extra security at Morrow High School as they head to school Monday.
A Clayton County Public Schools spokesperson said the district is aware of a threat made against the school and it has activated its safety response plan.
The school district released a statement Monday afternoon, saying they are “disheartened that someone would attempt to disrupt the education of our scholars and the work of our dedicated staff as this heinous threat resulted in a large number of student absences.”
The district said they were proud of law enforcement for working quickly to identify the person(s) involved.
It’s unclear if anyone has been taken into custody or if the threats were made by a student.
Channel 2 Action News doesn’t always report on threats but we wanted parents and students to know why they will see the added police presence.
The district's police department is investigating the threat and its credibility. Here is the full statement sent to Channel 2:
“Clayton County Public Schools is aware of a threat made against Morrow High School for tomorrow, February 24. The Clayton County Public Schools Police Department (CCPSDP) is currently investigating the threat and its credibility. We take all threats seriously, as the safety of all students, staff and visitors is of the utmost importance.
