Expert predicts rough mosquito season

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Mosquito season arrived early this year, and one expert said it's going to be ugly.

With this year's unseasonably warm temperatures, mosquitoes showed up in February.

"The ground never froze. The air did, but the ground didn't. When that doesn't happen … they don't die," said Evans Termite and Pest Control's Tim Ivey.

Mosquitoes are at their worst at day break and dusk. Ivey said the best thing to do is use insect repellant and get rid of standing water in potted plants, old tires and elsewhere in the yard. All it takes is a thimble-sized amount of water to be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
