Estranged husband says woman killed in stolen car chase wasn't accomplice

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — The estranged husband of a woman killed in a police chase is coming to her defense.

Andrea Allison, 38, of Cumming, was the passenger in a stolen car last weekend.

Deputies said the driver, Alston Spence, refused to stop when a deputy tried to pull him over.

A man was charged with vehicular homicide after a stolen car chase ended in a crash.

There was a nearly 10-mile chase through Forsyth County into Gwinnett County.

Spence lost control of the car and crashed head-on into another car. Allison was ejected and died at the scene.

"The hardest thing was telling my two little children that mom wasn't coming back. That was sad. I don't think I've ever faced anything like that in my life," David Allison said.

A woman was killed after the car she was in was innvolved in a chase and crash.

David Allison said he and his wife separated two years ago, and Spence was Andrea Allison's boyfriend.

He said his estranged wife was the victim of an abusive relationship.

"This wasn't Andrea. This is not the person I had my children with. It was not their mother. It was somebody else that's been manipulated and abused into a situation," David Allison said.

Spence has been charged with numerous crimes, including vehicular homicide.
