LAGRANGE, Ga. — A fight broke out at a LaGrange middle school Wednesday night, the site of a basketball game with Cowan Road Middle School that evening.
Troup County 911 dispatch received a call from a deputy assigned as the school resource officer at Callaway Middle School, who was providing security for the basketball game.
The deputy notified 911 dispatch that he needed additional deputies to respond to a large fight.

Minutes later, several 911 calls were received that reported shots were fired in the parking lot.
However, once deputies arrived and spoke to people at the scene, it was determined that no shots were fired.

No one was injured in the fight and the investigation continues by school resource officers and the Troup County School System.
Callaway Middle School issued a statement on Facebook, stating that a minor altercation broke out toward the end of the game during overtime, and that no shots were fired.

The school said it is working with local law enforcement to ensure the parties involved are held accountable for their actions.
