• Delta Air Lines to carry Sweetwater beer on flights

    Updated:

ATLANTA - When Atlanta's craft beermaker, Sweetwater Brewery, started selling beer, the owners imagined the sky's the limit for their business.

Now even the sky isn't a limit.

Sweetwater Brewery announced a new partnership with Delta Air Lines.

Delta will start offering Sweetwater 420 on its 34 daily flights between Atlanta and New York LaGuardia starting Tuesday.

“The volume is not huge but the awareness, the opportunity to have our product in front of tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of people is unbelievable,” said spokesman Steve Farace.

In the last few weeks, Sweetwater started selling the 420 beer in cans.

“They heard about our cans coming out and came to us and said, ‘Hey, can we talk to you guys?’” Farace said.

Sweetwater said special processes embrace the beer in metal just like in bottles.

Farace said the new partnership is “huge.”
